AK youth ages 14-17 from Dillingham, Togiak, Pilot Station, Kotlik, Kasigluk, Palmer, Anchorage, and Bethel will be exploring the impact industrial food has on our health, culture, and environment AND HOW TO TAKE ACTION for a just and sustainable food system! We will be creating and sharing our stories about cultural foods through SPOKEN WORD POETRY, MEMOIR, and MURALING.

Participant Perspective: Brittany Akaran
Hello! My name is Brittany Akaran. My Yupik name is Paniguaq, i don't know what my Yupik name means. I am from Kotlik, Alaska. I lived there my entire life. I have two sisters, three brothers and the most wonderful parents in the world. Im in the memoir Art Track. Were writing about memories about food in the past. My memoir is about my best friend and I eating popcorn daily. Im happy to be here learning about food and cultures.
